1962 CORVETTE

The most noticeable changes for 1962 were the removal of the side cover chrome trim, a blacked-out grille and ribbed chrome rocker panel molding.
For the first time since 1955 Corvettes were offered in solid colors only.
Standard features included:

- outside rearview mirror
- windshield washer
The wheels were available in Black, Beige, Red, Silver, or Maroon.
The last time buyers had a choice of wheel colors was in 1957.
In following years, wheels would be offered in only a single color
Seven exterior colors were available:
- Tuxedo Black (Black or white soft top)
- Ermine White (Black or white soft top)
- Roman Red (Black or White soft top)
- Sateen Silver (Black or White soft top)
- Fawn Beige (Black or White soft top)
- Honduras Maroon (Black or White soft top)
- Almond Beige (Black or white top)

The serial number (Vehicle Identification Number -- VIN) was located on a stainless steel plate welded to the top of the steering column mast under the hood.
Serial numbers ranged from 20867S100001 to 20867S114531

Corvette engines have the last six digits of the VIN stamped on the block next to the engine number
The body number plate was located on the engine side of the cowl.
The Fisher Body Style Number 62-0867 identifies a Corvette.
The body number is the production serial number of the body.
The trim number indicates the interior trim color and material.
The vinyl upholstery was available in Red, Black, or Fawn.
The paint number indicates the color combination.
The seven 1962 Corvette "Magic Mirror" acrylic lacquer exterior colors were:
- 900 = Tuxedo Black
- 920 = Fawn Beige (Autumn Gold)
- 923 = Roman Red
- 936 = Ermine White

1962 Corvette Notes

A 1962 Corvette with a 327-cid 360-hp fuel-injected V-8 and the 3.70:1 rear axle could go from 0-to-30 mph in 2.5 seconds; from 0-to-60 mph in 5.9 seconds and from 0-to-100 mph in 13.5 seconds.
It did the quarter mile in 14.5 seconds at 104 mph and had an estimated maximum speed of 150 mph
