1969 CORVETTE

  • After a year's absence, the Stingray name (now spelled as one word) reappeared on the front fenders.
  • The back-up lights were integrated into the center taillights.
  • The ignition was now on the steering column and the door depression button used in 1968 was eliminated. (A key lock was put in its place.)
  • Front and rear disc brakes, headlight washers, center console, wheel trim rings, carpeting, and all-vinyl upholstery were standard.
  • Buyers had their choice of 10 exterior colors

  • The majority of 1969 Corvettes, 59.2 percent, came with power steering
  • 78.4 percent had four-speed manual transmissions
  • one-in-four had power windows
  • A 350-cid 300-hp V-8 was available this season
  • Cars with this powerplant and automatic transmission were capable of 0-to-60 mph speeds in the 8.4 second bracket and could move from 0-to-100 mph in approximately 21.7 seconds.
