In 1999 Cadillac offered three models of its large sedan: DeVille, d'Elegance, and Concours; but for the new millennium, those names have changed to DeVille, DHS, and DTS. On the cutting edge of headlight technology, Cadillac offered its Night Vision system which detects the "heat signature" of people, animals, vehicles and other objects, and projects their images onto the inside surface of the windshield ... Head-Up Display (HUD).

The Northstar V8 was stronger, smoother, and quieter in the highway cruising mode.

The Magnasteer variable-assist steering system gave handling precision that rivals the most respected imports.

The DeVille was equipped with high-tech Light Emitting Diode (LED) taillights, including an LED center high-mounted stop light. These LEDs light up much faster than conventional bulbs, giving drivers behind more than 5 meters of extra warning at 100 km/h.

Comfort? The heated front seats have 10-way adjustable controls. The leather for the seating is produced by a small, century-old tannery. The DHS and DTS models have massaging lumbar front seats. The leather-wrapped steering wheel contains switches for the car's climate control, cruise control, and sound system. The DHS and DTS are trimmed in genuine East African Zebrano wood. The automatic climate control system allows separate temperature settings for three individual zones inside the car. The DHS features power rear window sunshade. Even the rear passengers have separate rear heater and fan controls, and a folding center armrest with a built-in storage compartment and two flip-out cupholders. Each outboard rear seat has cushion and backrest seat heaters. Individual power sockets are located in the rear armrests and map lights, coat hooks, and map pockets are located on the back of the front seats.

The StabiliTrak 2.0 includes Active Steering Effort Compensation which slightly increases effort during sudden manoeuvres to enhance driver control. For safety, the DeVille has four sonar sensors on the rear fascia (Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist system) to sense objects within 1.5 meters of the rear bumper and warns the driver.
