2000 CADILLAC SEVILLE

Largely unchanged in outward appearance, Seville returned for 2000 with its two-sedan lineup:

• Seville Luxury Sedan (SLS)
• Seville Touring Sedan (STS)

Like DeVille and Eldorado, however, their dual-overhead-cam 4.6-liter Northstar V-8s were significantly refined for improved smoothness and quieter operation as well as better mileage using regular fuel.

Horsepower ratings were among the highest in their class with 275 for the SLS and 300 for the STS.

Targeted by Cadillac to impact the global luxury-sedan market, Sevilles were veritable gadget-laden showcases of American automotive technology.

Standard were improved versions of both StabiliTrak and Cadillac's Continuously Variable Road-Sensing Suspension (CVRSS) which, in combination with Magnasteer variable-assist, speed-sensitive power rack and pinion steering and the road-texture detection system, greatly enhanced vehicle performance, and passenger safety.

New for 2000 was a system to prevent deployment of the front-passenger air bag if the seat was empty or occupied by a small child.

Also new was an ultrasonic rear parking assist and GM's advanced three-button OnStar communications service.

Performance Algorithm Shifting (PAS) allowed the four-speed automatic transmission to perform more like a manual transmission under spirited driving conditions.

Inside, Sevilles were even more luxurious than before with leather, optional Zebrano wood, improved interior storage, and advanced sound system, seats using inflatable air cells to adjust for comfort and support, and even optional massaging lumbar seats in the STS.
