Why Lithium Batteries Are the Future of RV Batteries

Did you know that the average price of lithium batteries decreased to 137 dollars per kilowatt in 2020? That’s a decline of 13 percent since 2019 and 88 percent over the last decade! With lithium-ion batteries becoming cheaper so will the price of everything that uses lithium-ion batteries.

Not only are lithium-ion RV batteries lightweight, but they are eco-friendly without any power loss, are great performers, and are reliable! Read on below to find out more!

Better Safety RV Batteries

An RV is a vehicle with an enclosed space and with enclosed spaces, you don’t want a fire starting or a battery blowing up and causing harm. Lithium-ion batteries are much safer than lead-acid batteries and won’t cause a fire.

Technology advancements these days make sure the RV lithium battery has battery management systems and won’t short out. Additionally, there is no maintenance on these batteries, and won’t produce any gases or spill any liquids.

Cost-Efficiency

As we said the price of lithium batteries is on the decline and will continue to decline through the years. This means that you can now afford more RV batteries and turn your RV into a self-sufficient vehicle that can go any without worrying about electricity again.

Storage Capacity

The storage capacity of a lithium-ion battery is much denser than the lead-acid battery counterparts. This means that they can store more space in the same capacity and don’t take up as much space.

Not only can you get more stored energy into the same space but more of that stored energy is available for actual use.

No Need For Maintenance

Unlike a lead-acid battery where you have to keep an eye on the acid level. a lithium battery is a sealed unit and doesn’t require any maintenance in order to keep it positively charged.

In an RV the batteries can be tucked away, making maintenance a cumbersome effort but with lithium batteries, you won’t have that problem.

Much Longer Life Span

Any battery will degrade over time however, a lead-acid battery degrades much faster than its lithium-ion counterparts. RVs of before have had to replace their batteries every couple of years or even sooner if poor maintenance was carried out.

Thinking of a lithium-ion battery as a lifelong asset isn’t too unreasonable. This is because a lithium-ion battery can last 10-40 times longer than a lead-acid battery. Many batteries have seen over 5000 usable deep charges which roughly translates to about 20 years of use, and thousands of lighter cycles.

Lithium is the Future of RV Batteries

In the RV world and where RV batteries are concerned, no other power storage source comes even close to lithium-ion batteries. With so many advantages and so few disadvantages, changing your power bank in your RV today will be one of the smartest decisions you will ever make.
