3 Car Maintenance Tips for the Best Looking Cars on the Road

In 2018 about 17.27 million people excitedly brought home their shiny brand new vehicle. They were excited as the paint gleamed, and the interior smelled of a new car.

Unfortunately, many of those cars are just a shadow of their former glory today. How does it happen you ask? It’s only been a year. Owners that don’t take care of the vehicles will soon have a less than desirable looking vehicle.

The best looking cars have owners that take care of their vehicles. Here are three tips to help you make sure you new vehicle is one of the best looking.

1. Regularly Change the Oil

Take a look at your owner’s manual and follow the manufacturer’s guide for how often you should change your car’s oil. The most common advice is to change your oil every 3,000 miles.

However, with advanced synthetic oils that are common today, you may be able to go as many as 5,000 to 7,000 miles before needing a change. You should also change your oil every few months if you don’t drive your car enough to regularly hit the miles threshold.

2. Check Your Tire Pressure

Having proper tire pressure doesn’t just improve your ride. Although this is probably the most noticeable difference.

When you have the right amount of air in your tires, they will wear evenly. This will extend the life of your tires and save you money in the long run.

Overinflated tires will bulge in the middle of the tread. Your tread will wear away faster requiring you to replace them sooner.

Underinflated tires will cause the tire to buckle and put extra pressure on the sidewalls. Flexing sidewalls will cause them to wear and put you at risk of a blowout.

The final benefit of having the correct inflation is that you’ll get better fuel economy. The right amount of rubber is in contact with the road, and the car has the amount of support intended.

Check the label on the inside of your door jam. The manufacturer will tell you there how much air should be in each tire.

3. Wash Your Car

Try to wash and wax your car every week. Don’t just clean the body though. Rinse under the wheel wells and undercarriage.

This will clean out any dirt, road grime, or salt. All of these things will gum up your car and cause corrosion.

To keep your paint job looking great, you’ll want to wax your car. That way water and contaminants wick right off. When you see the water drops beading up and becoming larger than a quarter, it is time to wax again.

Don’t have the time or energy to wash and wax your car? There are plenty of services that will detail your car for you. You can view more information here if you’re interested in this type of service.

Have the Best Looking Cars

If you want to have the best looking cars, then you need to perform regular maintenance. That way you keep tabs on how your car is running.

The key is to create a schedule and then stick to it. Once a month you should check your oil and tire pressure. You’ll want to wash your car about once a week or whenever it gets noticeably dirty.
