1975 Corvette

Major changes for 1975 involved the following:

improved bumpers which looked the same
a catalytic converter
a new High-Energy ignition
the speedometer included kilometers-per-hour. In the USA, mph was the dominant display with km/hr in smaller characters and the odometer registering miles. In Canada, the reverse was true.
This was the last year for the Corvette convertible

HISTORICAL NOTES

The 454-cid engine was dropped this year in all Corvettes
The convertible was also dropped
Car and Driver tested a 1975 and found that it did the quarter-mile in 16.1 seconds and did 0-to-60 in 7.7 seconds with a top speed of 129 mph
Robert D. Lund became Chevrolet general manager
Zora Arkus-Duntov retired as Chevrolet's chief engineer.
David R. McLellan became the chief engineer.
