1962 Corvette

The most noticeable changes for 1962 were the removal of the side cover chrome trim, a blacked-out grille and ribbed chrome rocker panel molding.
For the first time since 1955 Corvettes were offered in solid colors only.
Standard features included:

The wheels were available in Black, Beige, Red, Silver, or Maroon.
The last time buyers had a choice of wheel colors was in 1957.
In following years, wheels would be offered in only a single color

V.I.N. NUMBERS

The serial number (Vehicle Identification Number -- VIN) was located on a stainless steel plate welded to the top of the steering column mast under the hood.

Corvette engines have the last six digits of the VIN stamped on the block next to the engine number
The body number plate was located on the engine side of the cowl.
The Fisher Body Style Number 62-0867 identifies a Corvette.
The body number is the production serial number of the body.
The trim number indicates the interior trim color and material.
The vinyl upholstery was available in Red, Black, or Fawn.
The paint number indicates the color combination.
The seven 1962 Corvette "Magic Mirror" acrylic lacquer exterior colors were:
- 900 = Tuxedo Black
- 920 = Fawn Beige (Autumn Gold)
- 923 = Roman Red
- 936 = Ermine White
- 938 = Almond Beige
